Yes, you understand it now. It is really just all practice getting the right sync between mouse and keyboard (just like with airstrafing.) I can tell you that you're not moving your mouse far enough. You want to look more to your side when starting the strafe. You will eventually want to be consistent around 460-490 with every jump on both sides.

Well it does seem to be your prestrafe. You should be able to get up to 490ups by prestrafing. In the clip you are only getting around 350 off the ground. The prestrafe in HL is much longer than in csgo kz. Try using "bxt_hud_jumpspeed 1" to show you what your speed is when you are leaving the ground. All settings that would effect movement should be default.

This is called a pre-strafe. You need to strafe along the ground like you would in the air (but while holding w.) This is what allows you to get close to 500ups before even leaving the ground.

I recommend the command "bxt_hud_jumpspeed 1" for practicing your pre-strafes. It takes a little while to get good at it, but soon you wont have to think about it.

Yup, it's a known glitch. I don't know of a fix besides restarting the run. I know if the cart is in motion when it reaches the top of the lift, it can get stuck.
