General Rule Philosophy
Updated 1 year ago by TheAegisRelic

All site rules (maingame/category-specific) are created through two principles: fairness and stability.

Fairness refers to concurrent runners/teams having a level playing field. Examples of the fairness principle applied include wipe screen duration equalization, black screen / load timer pauses, and rejoin timer pauses.

Stability refers to current and future runners/teams having a level playing field with each other. While we cannot predict whether or not Bungie will patch something, based on past evidence, if it is obvious something will be patched or is being patched, you can assume it is not allowed in submitted runs (examples include Gahlran jump bait, Fourth Horseman slug damage glitch, and Winterbite chunking).

As mods, it is our responsibility to uphold these principles as best we can in order to ensure that the competition of speedrunning is kept as fair and impartial as possible. While we will do the best we can to foresee what Bungie may change, in the event that an unexpected patch fundamentally changes the speedrunning landscape, a category split will be used as a last resort to resolve the matter and keep competition going.
